Content creation – Laptuote Foundation's SOTE workshop.

While working as a communications assistant/content creator at Laptuote Foundation, I was also responsible for the social media content creation for Laptuote's SOTE workshop. The SOTE workshop offers work activities for people with disabilities, aiming to support their inclusion in the labor market and promote well-being and life management. In my work, I specifically wanted to highlight the joyful and optimistic daily lives and work activities of the SOTE workshop's clients, the "kettupajalaisten," showcasing their achievements.


Creative content for different channels

In content creation, I showcased the activities of the SOTE workshop and shared the stories of the kettupajalaisten. My responsibilities included filming, editing videos and photos, and writing captions. I aimed to make the videos and photos accessible and engaging to reach a broad audience and generate interest. It was important in the SOTE workshop's content to ensure the clarity and ease of understanding so that it would be accessible and meet the needs of people with disabilities.


Customer service and communication skills

Working with people with disabilities developed my customer service and communication skills. Each client brought their unique stories and experiences, and sharing these was an important part of my work. This experience taught me how to create content that not only informs but also inspires and engages viewers while being accessible and considerate of the target audience's needs.


Challenges and priorities

From May onward, I was mainly responsible for the social media channels of Laptuote, SOTE workshop, and Goodwill Lappeenranta, as well as other tasks such as brochure design and website updates. This posed scheduling challenges, but Laptuote's own social media channels were the main priority for content creation. I actively listened to employees' publication suggestions, which sometimes made scheduling and planning difficult. Despite the workload, I ensured that current topics and advertisements were highlighted, and that I created engaging, brand-consistent content. This experience developed my time management skills and diversified my content creation abilities in communications and marketing.


A valuable learning experience

Overall, creating content for the SOTE workshop was a valuable learning experience that strengthened my skills in communication and marketing. I learned how crucial it is to listen to clients and consider their needs, as well as how to create content that truly resonates with their experiences. This work not only developed my interaction and professional skills but also deepened my understanding of societal challenges and opportunities.
